Hasbro Factory Movie Rumors

"All Your Favorite Toys Coming Soon to a Theater Near You in HASBRO FACTORY

What do you get when you cross Transformers, Play-Doh, Mr. Potato Head, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony, and the Easy-Bake Oven? Well, if you’re Hasbro, you get an Avengers-style movie.

...

It turns out the ubiquitous toy company is developing Hasbro Factory, a cinematic grouping all your favorite Hasbro toys. Details are still scare, and there is no word yet on which specific toys will be called on to make an appearance, but Pajiba reports the project is “out to writers”."

PonyCon Grand National 2010!

The ponies enjoyed themselves so much last year that we have decided to bring back the PonyCon Grand National for a second time, only now it is bigger and better than ever!

If you want a chance to enter a My Little Pony into this exciting event, it’s so simple. You pay £1 to enter your pony. The ponies will race in groups of 10. If they pass their qualifying race in the top 3, they will be in the final! And what’s in it for you? Apart from the glory of leading your pony to victory? Well there are some great prizes up for grabs!

...

The best thing about this race is that all of the proceeds will go towards making this year’s PonyCon happen!UK PonyCon is a non profit organisation, so all money raised from this even will benefit the convention and the charity it supports, which this year is the RDA.
See The MLP Arena for how to enter, "How it Works", the Prizes, and the Ponies and Qualifying Groups!

People: My Little Pony at Seth Green's Wedding

From People Magazine, on Seth Green's wedding:
"One detail both focused on was catering party favors to the individual guest. "We both like toys, so the centerpiece for each of the tables were different collections of toys that were takeaways," Green says of various action figures - think G.I. Joe - that waited for guests.

"My mom got the Care Bears," Grant says, "because she used to call me Clare Bear, and another good friend of ours had a pony collection so we made sure she got the My Little Pony table." "
(Thanks to Sparkleworks83 at the Arena for posting about this.)

"Fire "My Little Pony!"" ?!?

Interesting recent blog post regarding My Little Pony and feminism here. The author criticises My Little Pony for playing into gender stereotypes, but praises it for its themes of positive female friendship.

While I don't completely agree with the author, I still find it a good read.

Hasbro My Little Pony Workbook

Wow, Hasbro actually updated their My Little Pony News site. They have an activity workbook pdf available for download here.

Minnesota Pony Day Camp August 7, 2010

There's gonna be a 'Pony Day Camp' in Minnesota:

Minnesota Pony Day Camp

August 7, 2010
New Richland Minnesota

"Be ready for arts and crafts, games, a campfire with marshmallows, and of course, trading and selling! I've already started gathering prizes- I'll let you know what we have as the time gets closer!

The Day Camp will be held at the local sportsman's club, which has a cozy building and grassy fields to play in. The only thing it's lacking is running water, but there is a gas station about a block away, and a rustic outhouse. (Hey, c'mon.... it's free!)
For those of you who want to spend the night, there's plenty of room to set up tents, or curl up by the fireplace inside. In nearby Waseca or Albert Lea there are motels, too.
A great chance to meet new pony friends, play some games, make some things to hang on your fridge, and win some pony prizes! Of course there will be space to set up your own ponies, for sale, trade, or display!"

Gossip on the My Little Pony TV Series

Ringlet at the Trading Post spotted an article about the new My Little Pony TV series from Advertising Age. The series will be on new channel The Hub, which launches 10/10/10, and is a collaboration between Discovery Communications and Hasbro.

There's a blurb on the series, titled "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic":
"Emmy-winner Lauren Faust ("The Powerpuff Girls", "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends") presents a unique peek into the magical world of Equestria, where "Twilight Sparkle", a unicorn pony with a talent for magic spells, co-exists with her pony friends. Each episode follows "Twilight Sparkle" and pals as they embark on wondrous adventures."
Lauren Faust has apparently been posting some updates on the series on her DeviantArt page.  Here she posts about being the "Creative Steward" of MLP, and in the comments reveals
"The 2-part premiere has one big villian!!! Hope you like her!"
 and
"Except for Applejack and Spike, Hasbro lost all the copyright and trademark rights to all the names from characters in the 80's, so I couldn't bring back anyone but those two.

However, there will be male ponies in the show--- not a lot, but they'll be there."
And then here she tells us that what I called the ponies I liked from the toy fair are

"...based on the show I developed and am currently producing.

...

As far as I know, these are teaser prototypes. I'm not very much part of the toy process--- I designed the characters (as seen in the art on the background piece) for animation, and the talented Hasbro artists did the sculpts, so I'm not sure what the final toys will look like. For anyone curious, I DO know they are working on versions with rooted, comb-able hair, so don't go throwing out your little, plastic, heart-shaped brushes just yet!"
(Also, apologies to Ms. Faust on calling them anime-styled. Though that's more a reflection on the Hasbro artists than on her original art.)

Also, the pink pony is Pinkie Pie. So Applejack, Spike, and Pinkie Pie - a combination of old and new characters.
