Episode 4 synopsis?

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

Consider this is a rumour, but the synopsis for episode four has been leaked by a gentleman who works at a TV listing company. This is the same person who got us the season two release date, and the info on the Discord episodes. He's provided Equestria Daily with the alleged synopsis for episode four, titled 'Luna Eclipsed', and is set to air on the 22nd;

"It's Nightmare Night and the macabre celebrations are in full swing when Luna herself shows up in Ponyville, determined to change her frightening public image."

Official iOS MLP App: Twilight Sparkle, Teacher for a Day

By Sam, New Ponies & Merch Editor

We made a post about this application back in April and we were told then that it would be released in May of this year. Well, it's a few months late but nevertheless here it is! This is Hasbro's official Friendship is Magic iOS storybook app, developed in part by Ruckus Mobile Media, titled "Twilight Sparkle: Teacher for a Day."

It's available in the iTunes Store for $0.99. Compatible with iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad.

Here is a teaser for the app:

There is a definite lack of posters in the G4 world! Aside from the San Diego Comic Con exclusive and the odd poster/calendar, there is not much else out there. Have no fear, pony fans! This activity book is available at Half Price Books for $2.98 and it comes with not one, but two pull-out posters! Or rather, it comes with one poster that you can cut to make two.

Factory rejects/prototypes from Taobao!

By Sam, New Ponies & Merch Editor

Not really news, but interesting all the same.

For those unfamiliar with what a factory reject is, it is an item that does not fit the criteria set for a sellable product. Many times, these are bought for cheap by factory workers and are then sold on auction websites like Taobao or eBay.

The following ponies were found by StrawberryReef on MLP Arena. Please note, these are NOT new ponies, but likely factory rejects or prototypes that will not be seeing a wide release.

It's walking pose Rarity! Well, almost. She has Twilight Sparkle's eyes and no cutie mark. I think she looks quite pretty with those eyes, actually.

This gal is more of a mystery. She looks almost identical to Flitterheart in color scheme, but there are three things that separate her from the wave four pony: no cutie mark, no wings, and she is in a walking pose. Could she be a prototype? The beginnings of a playset Flitterheart perhaps? Or could she be a mistake entirely? I guess we will just have to wait and see, but I am not adding her to the G4 Checklist until more information is available.

Jayson Thiessen; a humble gentleman!

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

Pony form Rebecca Shoichet (Twilight's singing voice), Jayson Thiessen, and Daniel Ingram in the studio. By edveed at Deviant Art.

Jayson Thiessen recently released a public letter, stating that Friendship is Magic is a group effort, with a lot of credit going to Lauren Faust (for crafting the world), as well as the writing crew (James Wootton, and James Thiessen himself), animators (Sabrina Alberghetti, Jim Miller, William Bradford), the music crew (Daniel Ingram, William Anderson) and many, many more. It's a huge creative effort, and lately, with Jayson Thiessen being one of the more vocal members of the crew at Friendship is Magic, a lot of attention has been given to him. Not wanting take the spotlight solely on himself, he wrote this;

"I have been receiving a lot of praise and attention lately for the making of the show, and I feel it necessary to make some things clear to everyone.

First and foremost, MLP:FiM is Lauren's show. She created the characters and the world and the stories and how everything works on the show. It's all her vision behind everything you see. We, the production studio, were the hired guns to put that vision into motion and bring it to life. But she was there every step of the way, guiding us and keeping us on track. Every episode in season one has Lauren written all over it. She and the great Rob Renzetti made sure the writing was superb, holding everyone to the highest standard. She looked over every storyboard and animation rough cut and made sure it was up to her standards. Even right down to the music score, Lauren was there. I and Wootie are the directors, but Lauren was supervising us as best she could from LA, feeding us her knowledge and creative vision. After she left we simply continued along the path she carved out for us, by then we had the pattern down and knew what she wanted. Yes we added our own flavour to it and collaborated to make it what it is, but without her spearheading and guiding us and working with the HUB and Hasbro we wouldn't have what we have. Let it be known as well that almost all of the stories for season two were pretty much figured out by the time she left, so Lauren is still in there. Discord, and that whole two part episode had lauren in it through and through. She designed Discord completely herself, came up with his character and even flew up to Vancouver to oversee the storyboards personally. It was her idea to have John De-Lancie's voice and she directed him.
I just feel that with all the excitement of season two and with me appearing at Bronycon last weekend, the credit is being shifted on me a little more than I feel comfortable with. I just want to make sure everyone understands what a big role she played in the making of all this and give credit and praise to her.

Thank you,
Jayson Thiessen"

Friendship is Magic is a huge effort, and it's cool to see Jayson Thiessen taking a step back to put the spotlight on the rest of the crew.

Description for episode three?

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

Image by Capcapucca222 at Deviant Art.

TV.coms episode guide for Friendship is Magic has the description for Season 2 Episode 3 up (which we won't be seeing till the 15th). It looks like anyone can edit these pages, so I'm not sure how actionable this is, but here's the description anyway;

"Panic sets in when the extremely organized Twilight Sparkle struggles to find material for the weekly report on friendship she sends to Princess Celestia."

Could this be the episode where we find out Twilight has OCD? Not sure!

Put your frown on, we'll be reaching speeds of sad; Episode 3 not till the 15th.

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

I don't know what he's watching seeing as it's going to be a couple weeks before anything good is on TV again.

In the words Engineer from Team Fortress 2; Dagit nagit nabit dagit!

It looks like episode three won't be airing till the 15th, according to a post at DerpyHooves.com. A redirect to the schedule for October 8th shows The Return of Harmony airing once again, rather than the new episode that was assumed to air on the 8th. This might be an error in the schedule, but it might also mean we're not going to be seeing episode three till the 15th. Only one thing to do; wait and see!

Letter From the Editor: Technical Difficulties

By Kate, Editor in Chief

Hi Ponyfans,

I ran into some technical difficulties this afternoon surrounding something I accidentally posted to this site. If you happened to notice them before they got deleted (or if they're still in your RSS reader), please excuse the flurry of posts between 3:00ish and 4:00ish pm PT today.

On the plus side, this mistake brought to my attention that the Twitter and Facebook feeds have been down for a week. They should be working again going forward. To catch up on the past week, please visit the main site at www.mylittleponynews.com.

Regarding that accidental post - I generally don't post personal stuff on this site, but I just had a baby two weeks ago. The post was his birth announcement, which I had intended to post to a private blog, but unfortunately ended up posting here. It does have some personal information on it, so if you saw it, please respect our privacy and ignore it. Baby and I are doing well. I'm taking a 'maternity leave' from this site, but the rest of the awesome MLP News Staff has continued to post and run things in my absence. (Thanks team!)

Regards,

Weekend Wrap Up.

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

I saw this image on Equestria Daily and really liked it. There's no Scootaloo in this post, I just like this picture. Sorry Scootaloo fans.

My ISP found it necessary to block the IPs of websites to which I regularly upload content, the IPs they blocked were MLP News, and my personal server. Their reason being I might have a virus that's using my computer to spread malicious software. However, I merely upload (sometimes large) images to My Little Pony News, and I upload work related things to my server. Many phone calls and emails were exchanged, and I once again full use of my internets, hooray!

This hiccup came at a bad time, seeing as this weekend was flooded with news. Let's get started!

Lauren Faust, the young woman who was the focal point of the creation and conception of Friendship is Magic has recently uploaded a bunch of concept sketches to her Deviant Art page. Most of them are from 2008, and contain sketches from what she calls the shows 'pitch bible'. It's pretty cool seeing how the show came to be.

Dash is not amused.

I could link you to all of the individual sketches, but there's about twenty of them, so it's easier to go to her gallery on Deviant Art. If you have an account add them to your favourites and leave some comments, let her know we want to see more!

Oh man, I just had a thought. What if Lauren Faust can eventually fenagle the necessary rights to release a Friendship is Magic art book? That would be so awesome.

BroNYcon is a thing that happened this weekend, and from what I've gathered, it was kind of a big deal. I wasn't there, so I'm not really sure. I do however know that Jayson Thiessen was in attendance, and was of course, questioned by attendees. And NO ONE brought a handheld recorder to record his Q&A;? No one brought a Zoom H2, not even a Tascam DR-05? Seriously, ya all, next time something like this happens, get in touch with me, I'll let you borrow my Zoom H2 to record any Q&As.; Use the 'contact us' link, and shoot us an email saying 'Hey man I'm going to this MLP convention and Sibsy/Jayson/Lauren/Daniel/whoever from the show is going to be there. I don't have a handheld recorder, but I hear Ed has one he's willing to let someone borrow', and I will get you the hook up.

Despite an audio recording not propagating, a fan with a good memory was in attendance, and has summarized his answers to all of the questions here.

And, oh, yeah, episode two aired this weekend. If you missed it, give it a download here.

I think that's it. TV & Movie news should now be returning to it's regular schedule, sorry about the downtime!

Seeing as pony retailers update their stock so frequently (I'm looking at you, WeLoveFine), I have decided to do a round-up of all of the week's new shirts every Friday from this point on. I dub thee Pony Fashion Friday!

For the time being, I will only highlight official merchandise. If I ever find fan-made clothing that I think deserves its own news post, I will make a separate post about it.

The grand prize is up to $3,000 in cash, and this round will include some very special guest judges: Sethisto from Equestria Daily and AppleCider and Chef, co-hosts of the Bronyville podcast. You can read more about it here.

Episode 2 teaser from Hub.

Saturday is coming up, which means we get to see the conclusion to episode one, w00t! I'm sure we're all excited for more Q'y goodness (for our younger readers who might not know what that that means, Q is a character in Star Trek portrayed by John de Lancie, who provides the voice of Discord), and I know some of you can't wait. Lucky for you, Hub's released a video on their YouTube page that has some footage from episode two. Myself preferring to do whole bang the bucket that's on your head with a spoon thing when it comes to spoilers, have yet to check it out. If, however, you're the type of person who likes to have a peak at what's coming up, you can check out the video below.

Giggle at The Ghostie, now in German!

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

We've all been chortling at the cooky, snortling at the spooky, cracking up at the creepy, and whooping it up with the weepy for a while now. Personally, I don't think it's getting old, but if you're reluctantly singing along with it, now you can sing it in German! Check out the video below you give it a listen.

Sixth evolution of scene video!

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

This one's also from Suited for Success, and shows Rarity designing her dress for the Gala.

If you've forgotten all about these, they're videos detailing changes made in the animation process as a scene, or sequence of scenes develop. They're pretty cool look at how things unfold in the animation world. If animation is something you're into, they're definitely worth checking out.

You can check out the first three here, the fourth here, and the fifth here.

Season 2 on iTunes.

Edward, TV & Movies Editor

If you're like me, don't have cable, and need your pony fix, iTunes has you covered. You can download the episodes for $3 a pop, or buy a season pass for $50. Which beats paying $30 a month for cable just to get your weekly fix of new pony.

The episodes won't be making it to iTunes until about a day after they air, so you're going to have to put a bucket on your head and bang it with a spoon till you get a chance to watch it, 'cause avoiding spoilers is impossible.

You can also snag season one on iTunes for $50, too. They're 720p rips, and unfortunately, are only available in the states.

Soon.

Yessssssss! So very close! We all know what happens in *look at the clock above to figure out how many hours*. Season two, yessssssssssssssssss! It's here! I'm excited, I'm sure you are too. I doubt I'll be catching it live, but I'm a night owl, so I'm hoping I'll have an outlet to watch it by the time I wake up.

Here's a round of all of the season two news that was posted at My Little Pony News.

Here's a split second of season two that showed up in a Hub advert in late August.

You can catch up on the first round of spoilers here.

Here's some more footage from season two that an animator for the show put on his demo reel. The reel was quickly taken down, but not before some gifs of the season two footage were made.

Even more spoilers! And here, have some more spoilers!

Here's a lengthy interview with Jayson Thiessen about season two on Equestria Daily. It's an awesome listen. If you haven't heard it, it'll be an awesome primer for season two.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand, have all the teaser shots that were released on the My Little Pony facebook page throughout the week.

It's almost here!
