Way Overdue 2011 MLP Fair Recap

By Kate, Editor in Chief

The 2011 MLP Fair was way back in the beginning of July, but somehow a recap never quite happened. Better late than never, here are a few highlights from the 2011 MLP Fair.

Above are YouTube videos of the Hasbro Q&A session. A lot of what was talked about is now old news, but here are a few things you might not know:
  • Hasbro plans to release 28 ponies in 3" scale in 2011 in the US. I'm not sure which ponies they are talking about - bonus ponies are excluded, so
    • Wave 1 was the mane 6,
    • Wave 2 added 2 (Cherilee and Lily Blossom),
    • Wave 3 added 4 (Blossomforth, Cupcake, Dewdrop Dazzle, and Lulu Luck), and
    • I think Wave 4 is 5 (Feathermay, Flitterheart, Honeybuzz, Snowcatcher, and Twinkleshine),
    • So that's 17 once Wave 4 is released.
    • Then there's Skywishes, Plumsweet, Sweetie Blue, Minty, and the 2 new unnamed ponies,
    • So maybe 23 total.
    • Then there are playset ponies, and babies and walking poses which will probably also be playset ponies if I had to guess, but I'm not sure if they are included, or just the Playful Pony releases
    • So at best we might be looking for 5 more ponies by the end of the year?
  • Most answers are "stay tuned" or "not at this time" - they only answer questions for the toy line through the end of 2011, so that really limits the information coming out. Scootaloo was listed as not being released at this time, so she won't be out until next year at the soonest. Same with the unnamed yellow baby unicorn - no new babies at this time, means she won't be out until 2012.
  • "...we're always working really closely with the studio to incorporate as many of the characters into the toy line as we can..."
Summer Hayes, fair organizer, also did a post-show recap with My Little Pony Talk, if you want to take a listen.
